In an Op-Ed piece published on the Morning Consult website, Starkey President Brandon Sawalich discusses the importance of hearing care professionals to the process of diagnosing and treating hearing loss.
With the OTC Hearing Aid Law set to be finalized soon, Sawalich says that the time is right for “educating people not only on low-cost solutions but on the overall health benefit to proper hearing screening, personalized fitting, and the service and care that come with every hearing aid fit by a professional.”
Despite the industry disrupters who enter the market with a lower-cost product, Sawalich says they “almost always overlook three simple words: service and care,” which can lead to their downfall.
Given the technological advances in today’s marketplace—which include features like artificial intelligence and integrated sensors—hearing aids can provide improved sound quality and quality of life, according to Sawalich’s editorial, and trained professionals are a big part of ensuring the devices are reliable and accurate.
